VA SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABILITY COMPENSATION

PTSD due to Military Sexual Trauma (MST)

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) is sexual assault or harassment that happens while in military service. Data from VA’s national screening program reveals that about 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 50 men, respond “yes” that they have experienced MST, when screened by their VA provider.  A veteran who experienced MST that has resulted in PTSD should be eligible to receive VA disability compensation benefits.  Although MST without resulting PTSD will generally not be compensable, VA provides other resources for veterans and most former service members who have experienced MST.  PTSD due to MST is rated under the General Rating Formula for Mental Disorders.

If you have PTSD resulting from MST, the team at Greene & Marusak can help you receive appropriate disability compensation benefits.  Talk to our team.
