Burn Pit Exposure

While on active duty, you may have been exposed to various airborne hazards. Specifically, in the Southwest Asia Theater of military operations, open-air combustion of trash and other waste through burn pits was common. VA now recognizes numerous presumptive conditions as a result of exposure to airborne hazards and burn pit exposure, including: brain cancer; gastrointestinal cancer of any type; head cancer of any type; kidney cancer; lymphatic cancer of any type; lymphoma of any type; melanoma; pancreatic cancer; reproductive cancer of any type; various carcinomas; some lung conditions; respiratory cancer of any type; asthma post-service; chronic bronchitis; COPD; chronic rhinitis; chronic sinusitis; emphysema; pleuritis; and others.
