VA SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABILITY COMPENSATION

Agent Orange Exposure

A veteran can be service connected for presumptive conditions that resulted from Agent Orange exposure. These conditions include, but are not limited to: hypertension, diabetes mellitus type II; hypothyroidism; ischemic heart disease; Parkinson’s disease; early onset peripheral neuropathy; bladder cancer; chronic B-cell leukemia; Hodgkin’s disease; multiple myeloma; prostate cancer; and respiratory cancers.  To successfully establish service connection for a presumptive condition due to Agent Orange exposure, you will still need to show you have a current diagnosis of a presumptive condition, and that you served in a location that VA recognizes as exposing you to it.  Service connection may also be granted for conditions that are not yet recognized by VA as presumptive. In those cases, additional evidence establishing a medical nexus between the diagnosed condition and Agent Orange will be needed.
